Hailsham Rotary Club Hosts School Quiz 2010
The Members of Hailsham Rotary Club hosted the annual Primary Schools Quiz at the Hawkes Farm County Primary School on Wednesday 10th March. Pupils from all five schools taking part, Grovelands, Marshlands, Hawkes Farm, White House and Herstmonceux packed into the main hall of the school to support their respective teams.
The result of the contest was a close finish as usual with only 8 points separating all five teams. The team from Herstmonceux County Primary School were the winners and Grovelands County Primary School were runners up with only one point separating the teams. White House, Hawkes Farm and Marshlands County Primary Schools were close behind with only 2 points separating those three teams.
The Challenge Cup was presented to the winning team by Francis Hodge, the President of Hailsham Rotary Club, who said "Once again the Schools Quiz has resulted in a very close contest. The young team members astounded us again with their depth of knowledge in so many subjects and in my view the taking part in the competition is more important than the result”. He presented the Trophy to the joint winners and certificates to all team members and cheques to each school for taking part in the contest.
Hailsham Rotary Club meets regularly at the Boship Farm Hotel, Hellingly and has 38 members who take part in many fund raising activities throughout the year. In addition to local community projects that address many of today's issues, Rotarians also react to international problems as they arise.
