HAILSHAM ROTARY CLUB ARRANGES ROTARY YOUNG CHEF OF THE YEAR 2010

Hailsham Rotary Club recently organised the Rotary Young Chef of the Year Competition 2010 which was held at the Hailsham Community College in Hailsham.
Six entrants from the College took part and they were Tyler Smith, Adam Andrews, Nathan Crudge, Dominic White, Jordan Hunnisett and Emmanuel Ajagbe

The competition is designed for catering students and aims to promote healthy eating and cooking skills in young people. The students were required to cook a three course meal using ingredients that cost no more than £15. Personal hygiene and the handling of food formed part of the judging process and students had to serve their food at a set time and at the correct temperature.

The judges for the event were Francis Hodge (President of Hailsham Rotary Club), Moyra Davidson (Rotary Club representative) and Joanne Templeman (Sport, Health and Activity Co-ordinator at Hailsham Community College).

The judges found the task of choosing a winner a very difficult one as the standard of cooking was so high from all of the participants.

The President of the Hailsham Rotary Club, Francis Hodge, thanked all those who had helped to make the event a success and also the participants in the competition. H e said “the standard of cooking was excellent and it was a pleasure to see so many boys taking part in the competition ”
