HAILSHAM ROTARY CLUB AWARDS PAUL HARRIS AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE
Hailsham Rotary Club has awarded one of its members the prestigious Paul Harris Award which is given to Rotarians who have performed outstanding service to the Rotary movement through work in their individual clubs.
The award came as a surprise to Rotarian Jim Crouch as it was presented to him at the Rotary Ladies Night held at the Powdermills Hotel, Battle
Jim lives with his wife Jenny and they have two daughters (Vicky and Sarah). John was the Postmaster at Hertsmonceux Post Office and has recently retired after 17 years service. The Herstmonceux Stores and Post Office was a family run business in the centre of Herstmonceux village
In presenting the Paul Harris Award to Jim Crouch the President of the Hailsham Rotary Club, Francis Hodge said “It gives me great pleasure to present this Award to Jim for his outstanding service to the Club and the community of Herstmonceux. Jim joined the Club in 1980 and has been a member for 30 years. He has been President and Treasurer of the Club and also been Chairman of each of the Clubs Committees on many occasions. Many of the Clubs activities have been the subject of his organization during his 30 years of service and he has assisted with events such as the Festival of Transport, Vintage Motor Cycle Run and the more recent Father Xmas Visits throughout December in Hailsham and Herstmonceux”.
In reply Jim Crouch said “I am delighted to have been selected to receive this award which came as a complete surprise. I am very grateful to the Club Members for their support and hope to continue to be a member of the Club for many years to come”
Hailsham Rotary Club meets regularly at the Boship Farm Hotel, Hellingly and has 36 members who take part in many fund raising activities throughout the year.
